Making beads began in 1993, I was challenged to make 100 beads to sell at a Greatful Dead concert. In 6 months I made 10,000. My plan was to use clay to make money to buy woodworking tools and metal smithing tools, but clay captured my heart, so I bought a kiln instead. Fascinated by simple sculpture, using my own hand made tools, I eventually made a variety of beads styles that were always evolving, thousands, that I sold thru sold in bead stores all over America, and in Japan and Amsterdam… but mostly at the Oregon Country Fair. Face beads, Giving Goddess pendants, Skull beads, Cat People beads, Spirit Bird beads, Sun Face, Moon Face, and Green Men outdoor ornaments made individually by hand using a variety of different colored high fire stoneware clays. My work is medicine, first for me, then for those who choose it and live with it or gift it. I am self taught, proud to call myself a ‘folk artist’.
