2023 Market Season Grant Programs!

As the start of the Rogue Valley Growers and Crafters Market 36th outdoor market season approaches, we are very pleased to announce that we will be running the Double Up Food Bucks program again this season.  Double Up Food Bucks is a market money matching program for Oregon Trail card holders who enjoy healthy local food, supporting more economical access to fresh fruit & veggies.  Double Up Food Bucks match up to $20 of your SNAP funds when you swipe your card at the Info Booth every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday market.

How does it work?

  • SNAP / Oregon Trail card participants begin by attending the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday markets.
  • Swipe your Oregon Trail card at the Info Booth and withdraw monies from your SNAP account. You will receive red $2 tokens for that amount. (There is no service fee for swiping your Oregon Trail card.)
  • You will be matched up to $20 in Double-Up Food Bucks to boost your purchasing power.
  • Use your Double-Up Bucks towards fresh fruit & veggie purchases with our qualifying vendors.
  • Double-Up Food Bucks is redeemable once per participant per market day at the participating location while supplies last. Come back week after week & enjoy more healthy food!

Last year we distributed over $114,000 of Double Up Food Bucks funds at our markets!  That money goes to helping local families have additional access to fresh fruit and vegetables, helps support our local farmers and ranchers, and keeps these funds in our local economy.  What a win-win-win!

We are thrilled to announce that this season we will be participating in the Protein Match Program!  This is a private grant, that was funded to us by AllCare Health, in the amount of $50,000 to help provide additional access to proteins such as meats, poultry, seafood, eggs, cheese, nuts, and MORE to Oregon Trail Card Holders.   This program works similarly to the Double Up Food Bucks program, however there is only a $10 market match per day, and it’s for qualifying proteins.

Oregon Trail Card holders, can turn $20 worth of benefits, into $50 each market day when utilizing these two grant programs.  Stop by the information booth to learn more about how to utilize these great programs! Markets start the first week in March.  Join us March 2nd in Medford at Hawthorne Park and Tuesday in Ashland at the National Guard Armory.  The Saturday Downtown Market begins in May.  See you at the growers’ market friends!
